Paracas is a quaint harbor town that caters to backpackers traveling through. Be sure to try local seafood while visiting and plan for a few activities around the parks. In this post see our top two recommendations for things to do that make Paracas worth a visit.

Go to the Ballestas Islands

The Poor Man's Galapagos is a nickname for the Ballestas Islands making this an incredible stop for guests traveling through Paracas. On the tour have a chance to see a large variety of wildlife from sea lions, dolphins, and possibly penguins. Some tours also take guests to view a large Nazca Line only seen from the water. To get to the islands, book a tour boat, but be wary of weather conditions because it can affect which islands are open.

Dune Buggy Paracas National Reserve

This vast desert extends for eons with no signs of life until land clashes with the ocean. Hire a guide to lead a dune buggy through the reserve touching on points of interest. Find a tour with a private option to see viewpoints and landmarks with less people. There are options to drive the buggy without a driver as well.

Leave

Paracas is nice, but can't recommend staying for long unless you want to chill, eat food, and drink. Otherwise, time for you to move on.
